Is Metra free for children, seniors, or students?

Metra does not offer free rides for all children, seniors, or students, but there are reduced fares and free ride programs for certain groups. Children under 7 ride free with a fare-paying adult on Metra, and there are Family Fares on weekends and holidays where up to three children 11 and under can ride free with a fare-paying adult. Students may qualify for reduced fares depending on their age and the time of day. Seniors and people with disabilities may also qualify for reduced fares or free rides through the RTA’s Access Pilot Program.
